58th Krewe of Ceres presents Charity Ball Escorts

The 58th annual Krewe of Ceres Charity Ball will take place Saturday, Feb. 15, 2025, at the Lincoln Civic Center. 

This year’s escorts are as follows.

 

Robert Holmes Adcock

Robert Holmes Adcock is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Todd Adcock. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Burdine and the late Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Adcock.

Robert is a 2023 honor graduate of Brookhaven High School where he was a member of the National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Quill and Scroll Honor Society and a Mississippi Scholar. Robert was a BHS varsity tennis player and won 2 state championships. He was chosen to be in the BHS Athletic Hall of Fame.

Robert is currently a sophomore at Copiah-Lincoln Community College where he is on the dean’s list. He is a Trailblazer, member of Phi Theta Kappa, and BSU. He was selected for Who’s Who at Co-Lin. He is also a member of the Wolfpack Tennis team. Robert plans to attend Mississippi State in the fall majoring in Accounting.

Robert previously served as trainbearer in 2016, along with sister Sarah Todd. His brother, Sam, was an escort in 2021 and trainbearer in 2012. Robert is a member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven. 

 

Trevor Reid Fortenberry

Trevor Reid Fortenberry is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Russell Fortenberry Jr. He is the grandson of the late Mr. Hugh Russell Fortenberry Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Folsom and Mr. and Mrs. James Robert Rayburn.

Trevor is a 2023 Honor graduate of Brookhaven Academy. He was a member of the National Honor Society, the National Science Honor Society, and was a Mississippi Scholar.  He played Football, Baseball, and Basketball. He was chosen to represent BA on the 2022 MAIS All Star Football Team. He was the recipient of a King’s Daughter’s Medical Center scholarship, Copiah Lincoln Community College Presidential Scholarship, and Copiah Lincoln Football Scholarship.

Trevor is a sophomore at Copiah-Lincoln Community College majoring in Nursing.  He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and has been on the President’s List each Semester. Trevor plans to further his education after one more season at Co-Lin following a football injury. 

Trevor is an active member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven.

 

John Jeremiah Layton

John Jeremiah Layton is the son of Rev. and Mrs. Christopher John Layton. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Wilson Havens and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Thomas Layton. 

Jeremiah is a 2023 graduate of Brookhaven High School. He was a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, and was a Mississippi Scholar. He participated on the cross-country team and tennis team.

Jeremiah is a sophomore at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, where he is on the tennis team. He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and is on the Vice President’s List. He is also the President of the Baptist Student Union. He plans to finish his college education and then attend seminary to pursue a life in Christian Ministry. 

Jeremiah is a member of First Baptist Church Brookhaven where he has served as a Student Ministry Intern.

 

Elijah Wyatt Martin

Elijah Wyatt Martin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Charles Martin and the grandson of Mr. Wilfred Laird and the late Ms. Kim Newman Laird, Mrs. Kathy Rogers Martin, and the late Mr. Gary Hugh Martin.

Elijah graduated with High Honors from Brookhaven High School in 2023. He was a member of the National Honor Society and Ole Brook Tennis Team and was recognized as a Mississippi Scholar and a Mississippi Tech Master Scholar. He served as a Mississippi Senate page and a homecoming escort and led as Brass Captain, Section Leader, and Trumpet Player in the Pride of Ole Brook Band.

Elijah is a sophomore Biology major at Copiah-Lincoln Community College, where he received the Presidential Leadership and Vice President Academic ACT Scholarships. Named to Who’s Who at Co-Lin, he is a member of the Honors College, Phi Theta Kappa, Trailblazers, and the Wolves Tennis Team. He earned MACCC and NJCAA All-Academic honors and was named to the Vice President’s List. Elijah has been accepted into William Carey University’s Accelerated Doctor of Pharmacy program, starting this summer. 

Elijah is a member of Johnson Grove Church of Christ, where he recently served as an intern.

 

Jacob Meilstrup

Jacob Meilstrup is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Meilstrup. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Hank Smith, the late Jean Smith, and Mrs. Sherrie Meilstrup and the late Dennis Meilstrup.

Jake is a 2023 graduate of Brookhaven High School and was a Mississippi Scholar. Jake was active in sports during his high school years and was voted Most Athletic his senior year. He was a member of the varsity baseball team for four years. He was First Team All-District for three years, Defensive Player of the Year in 2021, Offensive Player of the Year in 2022, and Most Valuable Player in 2023. He also played varsity soccer and was a member of the golf team. Jake was active in the BHS Homecoming production and was class favorite his sophomore year. 

Jake is a sophomore at Southwest Mississippi Community College where he is majoring in business. He is a member of the Southwest baseball team. 

Jake was a trainbearer in 2016. His sisters were trainbearers in 2008 and 2011 and maids in 2017 and 2020. His brother served as a trainbearer in 2014 and escort in 2023.

Jake is a member of First Baptist Church in Brookhaven. 

 

Walker Connley Moak

Walker Connley Moak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Pete Moak. He is the grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Connley D. Moak, Mr.& Mrs. Edward Dee Smith and the late Edward Mickey Thornton.

Walker is a 2022 honors graduate of Brookhaven High School. He was a member of the National Honor Society, and recipient of the Swalm Scholarship. He was a member of the Ole Brook baseball team and served as a team captain.

He’s currently a sophomore at Mississippi State majoring in Industrial Technology with a concentration in automation. He has been on the President’s list and the Dean’s list every semester while at State. He played for an intramural softball team, and they won first place. He is a member of the Mississippi State Wakeboarding team. He interned at Georgia Pacific in New Augusta and will return there this summer. He will graduate from Mississippi State in May of 2027.

His brother, Will, served as an escort in 2020, his sister Maley served as a maid 2021 and was Queen 2023, and sister Morgan was a maid 2023, and Walker served as a trainbearer in 2016. He’s a member of First Baptist Brookhaven and he attends Pinelake in Starkville.

 

Mackenzie Brent Roberts

Mackenzie “Mac” Brent Roberts is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Brent Wayne Roberts. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hewitt Roberts and Mrs. Esta McTaggart Lambert and the late Mr. Donald Keith Lambert.

Mac is a 2023 Special Honors graduate of Brookhaven Academy, where he was a member of the National Honor Society and was a Mississippi Scholar. He participated in Science Club, Quiz Bowl, and student government, holding the position of President of his class throughout his high school career. Mac was a recipient of the Leland Speed, Russ Michael Mangold’s Love Life and Live It, Most Valuable Student, and Ducks Unlimited Scholarships.

Mac is a sophomore at Mississippi College majoring in Biology Medical Sciences and minoring in Business Administration. He is a member of Tri-Beta and SMACS. He is also a student recruiter and an orientation leader. Mac plans to further his education in the field of Medicine.

Mac is a member of First Baptist Church Clinton.

 

Tyler Andrew Shann

Tyler Andrew Shann is the son of Dr. Timothy and Lisa Shann. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Shann and Dr. and Mrs. Vincent Liberto. 

Tyler is a 2023 Honors graduate of Brookhaven Academy. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Science National Honor Society and was a Mississippi Scholar. Tyler received the Grand Cougar Award, Service Hours Award and the Cougar Leadership Award. He was a varsity football and soccer player and held various positions on the Student Council. Tyler was awarded a Swalm Scholarship, MSU Academic Scholarship and Colvard Future Leader Scholarship. 

Tyler is a Sophomore at Mississippi State University majoring in Biology. He is in his second year of being a member of the Co-Ed Cheer Team. Tyler plans on furthering his education in the medical field upon graduation. 

Tyler is a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Brookhaven. 

 

Landon Palmer Smith

Landon Palmer Smith is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Scott Smith. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Don Palmer and Mr. Hamp Smith and the late Mrs. Sherra Smith.

Landon is a 2023 honors graduate from Brookhaven High School. He was a member of National Honor Society and was a Mississippi Scholar. He was the recipient of the Senior Class Honor Cup, the Paul Moyer Memorial Cup, the Therrell-Tanner Leadership Award, and the varsity football Team Captain Award. He was named to the BHS Sports Hall of Fame and was elected Mr. BHS.

Landon is a sophomore at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. He is an officer of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and president of the Baptist Student Union. He plans to further his education at Mississippi State University majoring in Business, with plans of serving in church ministry.

Landon’s brother, Logan, served on the court as an escort in 2020 and his sister, Abby, served as a maid in 2022. Landon is a member of Easthaven Baptist Church, where he currently serves as Missions Intern. 

 

William David Sones III

William David Sones III, is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Bill Sones. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sones and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Reid.  

David was a 2023 Special Honors Graduate of Brookhaven High School. He was a Mississippi Scholar and Mississippi Tech Master Scholar. He was a member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and BHS Tennis Team. He was a recipient of the Academic Merit Scholarship and the 1848 Scholarship. 

David is a sophomore at the University of Mississippi majoring in Business. He is a member of the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College where is currently on the Chancellor’s Honor Roll. He is a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and the Badges and Gavels Club. David plans to attend Law School after graduating from Ole Miss.

David served on the court as a train bearer in 2016. David’s parents, Bill and Carrie, served as aides on the court in 1999. David’s grandfather, Terry Reid, served as king in 2012. David’s grandfather, Bill Sones, served as king in 2021. David attends First Baptist Church.
