Brookhaven Counseling Group now offers comprehensive, specialized counseling services for people dealing with the grief associated with losses across a person’s lifespan.
Bobbi Gordon, LPC, recently earned a “Death and Grief Studies” certificate. She accomplished this by completing 150 hours of training from the internationally recognized Center for Loss and Life Transition in Fort Collins, Colorado. Gordon’s course study included five separate classes:
• Comprehensive Bereavement Skills Training
• Companioning the Mourner in Early Grief: Principles and Practices
• Companioning the Mourner from Hello to Goodbye, Dark to Light, and Backward to Forward
• Grief Support Group Facilitator Training
• Becoming an Effective Grief Educator
These courses were taught by Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D., a noted author, educator and grief counselor. Founded in 1983 by Dr. Wolfelt, the Center for Loss and Life Transition is a private organization dedicated to furthering our understanding of grief.
Grief comes to everyone at various times in life. Contrary to popular belief, grief does not heal with time but rather attention. Gordon is passionate about companioning others through grief associated with loss and transitions of life to accompany and assist them as they convert the pain of grief into healthy acts of mourning.
“Understanding what is transpiring in our hearts and minds brings grace for ourselves as we do the hard work of mourning. It is invaluable work, for we know that when we mourn well, we can live well and love well again,” said a statement from BCG.
