The Wesson Garden Club’s annual “Magnolia Award” was presented to Dr. Roy Daughdrill at the Club’s meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025 by the Yard of the Month Committee chair Marilyn Britt.

The Magnolia Award is the most prestigious award given by the Wesson Garden Club. The award is designed to recognize and honor the home gardener with the most outstanding landscaped yard for the year and for their love of gardening. Dr. Daughdrill is well-known for his amazing daylilies. The key criteria to receiving the Magnolia Award includes consistently maintaining a manicured yard, curb appeal, originality, use of native and seasonal plant material and creativity. The recipient/recipients of this award must have previously received Yard of the Month within the current calendar year. 

The Wesson Garden Club is a member of The Natchez Trace District, Garden Clubs of Mississippi Inc., Deep South Garden Clubs Inc. and National Garden Clubs Inc.
