Lincoln County placed under tornado watch, severe thunderstorm warning

BROOKHAVEN — Lincoln County and other counties across southern and central Mississippi are under a tornado watch issued by the National Weather Service. According to NWS Jackson, the watch will expire at 4 a.m.

The watch comes as severe storms are forecast to make way across Mississippi. Tornadoes are likely, some possibly strong and damaging wind gusts reaching 70 mph are associated risks with these severe storms.

A severe thunderstorm warning has also been issued by the National Weather Service for north Lincoln County. According to NWS Jackson, the severe thunderstorm warning is until 11 p.m. Hail up to nickel in size and wind gusts up to 60 mph are warned with these severe thunderstorm.
