Watch: Severe thunderstorm warning continues

BROOKHAVEN — National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Lincoln County until 3:30 p.m. and extended it to 4 p.m. According to NWS Jackson, a severe thunderstorm was located by radar near Wesson traveling east at 30 mph and should reach Brookhaven around 3:20 p.m..
According to NWS Jackson, the severe thunderstorm could produce wind gusts reaching 60 mph with expected damage to roofs, siding and trees. Volunteer firefighters already responded to a grass fire sparked by a downed power line this afternoon.
“For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building,” NWS Jackson advises.
Lincoln County is also under a tornado watch until 7 p.m.
As of 12:20 p.m., Entergy reports 16,145 customers are without power across the state with 1,273 of those customers in Lincoln County, 108 customers in Franklin County and 707 customers in Copiah County.
Magnolia Electric reports 1,705 customers are without power in southwest Mississippi. Of the 1,705 customers without power, 761 of them are in Franklin County and 773 in Amite County. 143 customers in Lincoln County are without power.
Southwest Electric reports 919 customers without power in southwest Mississippi. Of the 919 customers, 157 customers are without power in Lincoln County, 54 customers are without power in Jefferson County, 235 customers without power in Franklin County and 146 customers in Copiah County are without power.
One tree was reported being down on Bogue Chitto Road SW blocking the roadway but has since been cleared. Wind gusts have reached 45 mph the NWS reports.
