The 2025 edition of Copiah-Lincoln Community College baseball salvaged a split on Saturday with the visiting Nunez Community College Pelicans.
Nunez won the opener 4-3 before CLCC earned a 5-0 win in the finale.
The Pelicans, out of Chalmette, Louisiana, beat Co-Lin 19-16 and 15-6 when the teams met two weeks ago in New Orleans.
Third-year CLCC head coach Adam Chamblee and his team are now 15-8 overall. Co-Lin will begin MACCC league play on March 12, when they travel to Clarksdale to face Coahoma Community College.
It looked like Co-Lin had tied game one at 4-4 in the bottom of the ninth inning, but the runner was incorrectly called out and the game ended with a win for the Pelicans.
Sophomore outfielder Tucker Jones (Northwest Rankin) led the way at the plate in game one, hitting a home run and driving in two runs.
Chamblee’s team used five pitchers in the opener.
In the finale, Co-Lin got a quality start out of freshman hurler Wes White (Northwest Rankin). The 6-foot-3 White struck out nine, walked three, and gave up no runs on two hits. He was replaced by sophomore Judson Griffin, a Brookhaven Academy alum, who gave up one hit in two innings while striking out two and walking three.
Franklin County product Donovan Moore drove in a run for CLCC in the win.
Freshman infielder Trey Davidson (Northwest Rankin) drove in two runs in the second game. Davidson is the leader at the plate for Co-Lin this season with 28 total hits.
Freshman infielder Avery Griffin (Brookhaven Academy) is tied for second on the team with 26 hits.
Co-Lin is scheduled to be back on the friendly confines of Sullivan Field on March 15, facing Holmes CC.
