BROOKHAVEN — Severe storms could return Saturday threatening Lincoln County and southwest Mississippi. Rain chances are already high Saturday with a 70 percent chance of precipitation and a 90 percent chance of precipitation Saturday night.
According to the National Weather Service, isolated severe storms could threaten Lincoln County. Damaging wind gusts and quarter size hail are the main threats associated with this storm risk. NWS Jackson does not warn of any tornado risk.
Storms could move through the area Saturday afternoon into the night between 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Strong winds could bring down any dead pine trees killed during the drought in 2023 or the subsequent pine beetle outbreak. Dead trees which fell on power lines sparked a couple of fires in Lincoln County this week and knocked out power to customers.
Stay weather aware this weekend.
