Man dies in oil field

Chase D. Curtice, 22, of Brookhaven was killed in an accident on a land oil rig near the intersection of Dunn-Ratcliff Road and Richard Lane in Lincoln County Monday night.

Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris reported Curtis was working on the rig when he was struck by a piece of pipe at approximately 9:30 p.m. McMorris said Curtice was taken to Kings Daughters Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 10:15 p.m.

Curtice was working for Loomis International, which was contracted by Denbury. McMorris said Denbury did not own the rig.

Curtice was a Brookhaven resident but was formerly of Michigan. His body will be sent to Crandell Funeral Home in Fremont, Michigan.
