Community comes together for benefit

On Nov. 29, the members of Grace Community Church are hosting a benefit for community member Christy Felder.

Felder has been diagnosed with three different diseases: lupus, pulmonary embolism and thyroid disease.

Karen Sterling, a member of the Grace Community Church, said Felder has been back and forth to the doctor incurring a lot of medical expenses. In addition, Felder has been denied disability claims. Sterling said Felder’s husband is doing all he can, and the benefit will assist the couple with medical and other expenses.

“They’re a very special and good couple,” Sterling said about Felder and her husband. “We saw the need and several people in the community came together to help them.”

“It’s just so inspiring because she just keeps fighting,” Sterling said. “She has such a beautiful spirit despite what she’s going through.”

The Christy Felder Benefit will be start at 3 p.m. and will include a silent auction and musical selections from different groups from around the community. Also, Stephanie Turner of Doll’s House will give an encouraging speech during the event.

There is also an account at the Bank of Brookhaven set up for Christy Felder. Anyone who wants to donate to the account can visit Bank of Brookhaven and ask for the Christy Felder account or Team Christy account.
