Tuesday night, the Board of Aldermen meeting a motion was brought forth, seconded and approved to bring in David Brewer from Pike County as prosecutor for the preliminary hearing in the case against Charles Acy, 18. It was reported in the meeting that many of the prosecutors in Lincoln County have conflicts of interest, and in order to provide Acy with a fair, impartial trial, the prosecutor must not have a vested interest in the outcome.

Acy has been charged with two counts of DUI causing mutilation/disfigurement, two counts of DUI homicide, a second-offense driving with license suspended and no proof of liability insurance in the deaths of Brookhaven High School seniors Jevonta Dickey and Shaquan Richardson.

Joe Fernald, city attorney, said David Brewer has served both the City of McComb and Pike County and has a lot of experience as a prosecutor, serving on a regular basis. The preliminary hearing is set for next Tuesday, Oct 28. The location of the hearing has yet to be set.
