People of Brookhaven prepare yourselves; the SEC Network is coming to town. One of the biggest conferences in America will be streaming games and shows 24-7. Starting Aug. 14 the Southeastern Conference Network will begin airing coverage on all television providers.

The channel will be available for customers using AT&T U-verse, DirecTV, Dish, Xfinity, Charter Communications, Cox, Time Warner Cable and recently Cable ONE announced it will also be providing the channel.

The new network will cover college football, basketball, softball, baseball, soccer, volleyball, studio shows and original content all year long. It will be offered through ESPN.

“We are very excited about adding the SEC Network to our channel line-up,” Cable One Vice President of Marketing Joseph Felbab said in a press release. “Our customers have requested this channel, and we are happy to be able to respond to that request.”

Local residents using Cable One who have the expanded basic cable package can tune in to channel 40 or 441HD for the SEC coverage. Cable ONE general manager, John Hilbert said the majority of local customers already subscribe to the expanded basic cable package, but if they do not they can contact Cable ONE to upgrade their current service.

Hilbert said the SEC network will not increase the price for cable; it is just another channel Cable ONE will be able to offer customers.

Other local providers:

• Direct TV will be carrying SEC Network on channel 611. It is currently being offered through the Extra and Above package but is likely to be available to all packages in the future.

• Dish Network will be carrying it on channel 408. It will be part of the America’s Top 200 package.

• AT&T UVerse will be carrying it on channel 607 and 1607. It will be part of the U200 package in an SEC state and the U300 package for states outside of the SEC.
