Arrest made in theft-ring

Brookhaven Police Department confirmed an arrest in the ongoing investigation of the local theft-ring involving fraud and felony charges.

Brookhaven Police Detective Clint Earls reported that Karen Calvin, 44, of Natchez, was arrested on at least seven felony charges ranging from identity theft to credit card fraud.

The theft-ring involves multiple members. The suspects have allegedly been going into local businesses and robbing employees. The women involved with the ring will cause a distraction while other women go behind the counter and look for employee’s purses. The women take wallets, close the purses and leave.

Earls added the theft-ring is still under investigation.
