A Bogue Chitto resident was killed and another injured in a motorcycle accident Saturday afternoon.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Troop C Public Affairs Officer Eric Henry said Jeri and Johnnie Smith were on Interstate 20 in Warren County near the Rolling Fork exit when the rear tire of their motorcycle blew out. The couple lost control of the vehicle and was ejected when the motorcycle went off the right shoulder of the road and struck a ditch.

Warren County Deputy Coroner Kelda Bailess said Jeri Smith, 63, was pronounced dead on the scene at 2:06 p.m. from head and neck trauma. Johnnie Smith was airlifted from the scene to River Regions hospital and later to UMC.
