The Lincoln County School Board announced Monday the district will receive individual and district awards in the 2013 Mississippi School Board Association Lighthouse School Leader Awards Program.

The awards will be presented at the annual “Lighthouse School Leader Awards” luncheon on Tuesday, Nov. 12, in Jackson. The Mississippi School Board Association presents the awards to school districts that have increased their performance grade, or have maintained a high standard of excellence.

“This is a great honor. It’s nice to be recognized for the good things you do and for all the hard work that goes into it,” said board member Johnny Hart.

The awards follow the county school district’s recent overall grade of B, or “High Performing,” in the Mississippi Department of Education accountability program. Individually, West Lincoln Attendance Center received an A (Star school) ranking, and Bogue Chitto, Enterprise and Loyd Star attendance centers each received B rankings in the MDE program.

In financial business on Monday, the board approved “positive behavior” funds.

In other business, the board carried five separate items of a consent agenda in one motion, including:

• Approval to remove from or add to the substitute teacher and bus driver list.

• Approval of a use of school facility request.

• Approval of an online board policies.

• Approval of a student transfer request from Lincoln County to Brookhaven.

• Approval of a revised contract.

The board met at Enterprise High School for Monday’s meeting. The board will meet again Nov. 18.
