Co-Lin’s Crum named MACJC Player of the Year

0513 CL Jessica CrumWESSON – Sophomore catcher Jessica Crum capped off her stellar season by being named Mississippi Association of Community and Junior College (MACJC) Player of the Year. The Prairieville, LA native helped lead the Lady Wolves to a 29-14 season 2016 with phenomenal power from the batter’s box and experience behind the plate.

Crum posted staggering numbers throughout the season and broke her own Co-Lin home run record of 16 after hitting 20 round trippers this season. When she was not clearing the fence with the long ball, Crum found a way to reach base safely.

The sophomore led the nation in batting average with an astonishing .623. Instead of pitching to the power hitter, teams opted to intentionally walk her as she led the nation with 48 walks on the season. Crum, an Alcorn State University signee, also led the nation in on base percentage with .738, and was No. 2 in the country in slugging percentage with 1.254. Not surprisingly Crum led the Lady Wolves with 61 RBIs. Her most impressive stat was only striking out six times in 114 at plate appearances.

“We are excited for Crum to receive the MACJC Player of the Year Award,” said Lady Wolves head coach Allen Kent. “It is well deserved, as she was widely considered the most feared hitter in our league. She led the Nation in batting average, on-base percentage and walks, while finishing second in slugging percentage. It’s an honor for her to be selected by the coaches in our league.”
