Cathedral beats BA Lady Cougars
NATCHEZ – The Natchez Cathedral Lady Green Wave defeated the Brookhaven Academy Lady Cougars 50-38 Saturday in the girls’ consolation round of the MAIS AAA division tournament at Adams County Christian School.
The Lady Cougars (18-14) will be action today as they travel to Columbia to take on the Bowling Green Lady Bucs at 4 p.m. in the opening round of the MAIS AAA South State tournament at Columbia Academy.
Lady Green Wave 50, Lady Cougars 38
The Cathedral Lady Wave quickly overpowered the Lady Cougars in the first half as they secured a 30-12 advantage at halftime.
BA managed to outscore Cathedral 26-20 in the final two quarters, but failed to overcome the Lady Green Wave’s large lead.
Kailyn Jordan and Edie Riley were the top scorers for the Lady Cougars with 11 points apiece. Anna-Michael Smith contributed five points. Sissy Byrd and Shelby Flumm netted three points each. Sophie Wilson and Bailey Stewart provided two points apiece. Leah Case finished with one point. Wilson was the leader on the boards with five rebounds. Cameron Watson, Stewart and Byrd collected four rebounds each.
Glayson Bryant paced the Lady Green Wave’s offense with 11 points. Natalie Hetcher chipped in 10 points. Elizabeth Smith scored nine points. Caroline Kaiser had eight points.
