New budget approved: School board plans upcoming projects
New construction and maintenance projects for the Lincoln County School District will begin July 1 as the school board approved the district’s 2015 budget Monday and closed the books on 2014.
Superintendent Terry Brister said there are projects he would like to have started already, but there are two issues in the way: one is the weather and two is finding people to do them. He added that the projects have to be started in the middle of the summer because the budget year ends in July.
Other items handled at the meeting included:
• Approval of a resignation request.
• Approval of a request to add an assistant basketball supplement at Loyd Star.
• Approval of updated bus driver recommendations.
• Approval of finger-printing/background checks.
• Approval of request to accept vocational equipment.
• Approval to advertise for bus drivers.
• Approval for Bogue Chitto to accept gifts from boosters and business leaders.
• Approval for Enterprise to accept a $5,000 check from State Bank for the High School cheerleaders.
• Approval to request to purchase two new buses.
• Approval of student transfers from Lincoln County to Brookhaven for the 2014-2015 school year.
• Approval to dispose of textbooks at Loyd Star and West Lincoln.
• Approval of a school facility use request.
