Public hearing sees little activity, quickly adjourns

The board of aldermen held a public hearing Tuesday night to allow for discussion on the budget for the new fiscal year.

With only one member of the public present and no questions asked, the hearing was quickly adjourned. The board continued their work session to work through the budget discussing the best way to spend the city’s money.

Shirley Estes, Ward 4 Alderman, and David Phillips, Ward 6 Alderman, said their biggest expenditures would go toward personnel and insurance.

The budget for the coming year will be discussed further in upcoming board meetings.

The aldermen’s next regularly scheduled meeting is Tuesday, Sept. 2, at 6:30 p.m. in the city boardroom on the first floor of the Lincoln County-Brookhaven Government Complex.
