Poinsettias are one of the longest-lasting blooming plants available, according to Lincoln County Extension Agent Rebecca Bates. The plant should be kept away from hot or cold drafts and protected from cold winds, she said. Poinsettias grow best when kept at a temperature range of 60 to 72 degrees.
