Lady Bulldogs sweep Tylertown

MEADVILLE – The Franklin County Lady Bulldogs clobbered the Tylertown Lady Chiefs 13-2 Tuesday night to remain undefeated in the Region 7-3A race.

With the win, the Lady Bulldogs finished off the sweep of the Lady Chiefs, beating Tylertown 15-0 in their first meeting April 5.

The Lady Bulldogs, coached by Sally Case, will resume action today when they host Port Gibson. Junior varsity action begins at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity contest at 6:15 p.m.

The Lady Bulldogs grabbed an early 6-0 lead on four hits.

The Lady Chiefs battled back in the third and fourth innings, scoring one run each to cut into Franklin County’s lead at 6-2. But the Lady Bulldogs responded with a seven-run surge in the bottom of the fourth inning to put the game away in a five-inning contest.

Emilee Wallace was the winning pitcher for Franklin County with nine strikeouts and four walks.

Shelly Case directed the Lady Bulldogs with two singles. Brandi O’Neal ripped a double. Hitting safely were Chasney Green, Tabitha Thompson, Cheyenne Higgs and Jayde Haller.

Lady Bulldogs 15, Tylertown 0 

The Lady Bulldogs dominated the Lady Chiefs in a five-inning contest. Franklin County plated three runs in the first, four runs in the second, three runs in the third, one run in the fourth and scored four more runs in the fifth inning.

Emilee Wallace was the winning pitcher for the Lady Bulldogs. She allowed only one hit while collecting six strikeouts and had one walk.

Wallace was also the leader at the plate for Franklin County. She was three-for-three with a double. Cheyenne Higgs finished two-for-three with two doubles. Shelly Case was two-for-three with two singles. Chasney Green provided a double and Brandi O’Neal hit a single.
