Vandalism spree reported in town
A spree of vandalism has hit Brookhaven. Downtown businesses have been the victims of broken windows and damage, causing thousands of dollars in damages.
Brookhaven Police Chief Bobby Bell said that while officers were on routine patrol Sunday they found broken windows in eight businesses. He said the windows were broken with some type of pellet gun or BB gun, and pellets were found in some of the businesses. In addition, while on patrol Tuesday, officers found window damage to the library.
The affected businesses included: Roxy Magnolia, Enterprise Rental, Hollywood Beauty Supply, the Hospice Center, Academy of Korean Martial Arts, T.H. Perkins Furniture Store on 520 Brookway Blvd., Recess 101 and the Keys Motor building.
There were no injuries or thefts were involved in the vandalism.
Bell said that there are no suspects at this time, but the station has received surveillance videos from one of the businesses. He said they would be using that to determine the type of vehicle, which will help in locating the culprits.
