BSW falls in playoffs

SUMMIT – The Brookhaven Southern Wildcats concluded their second season of youth football on a great note by making the TNT Youth Football League playoffs for the second year in a row.

The Wildcats failed to advance to the next round after losing to the Ferriday Trojans last Saturday.

Ferriday defeated BSW 30-22 in the 11-12 year-old game. In 7-8 year-old action, the Trojans eliminated the Wildcats 12-6.

Ferriday 30, BSW 22 

Jamie Finley paced the Wildcats’ offense with 225 rushing yards. He scored two touchdowns on a 75 and a 70-yard run.

Byrion Robinson contributed to Brookhaven’s ground attack with 70 yards rushing. He also punched in a 50-yard touchdown.

Defensively, Finley led the team with five tackles. Shelton Newton provided four stops. Michael Jenkins and Michael Brothern had three tackles apiece.

Ferriday 12, BSW 6 

Kenneth Dixon was the offensive leader for the Wildcats with 70 yards rushing.

Malik Clark was the second leader for BSW with 30 yards rushing. He scored the only touchdown for the Wildcats with a 25-yard run.

Defensively, Kermit Sartin and Malik Clark were the top hitters for Brookhaven with three tackles apiece.
