NATCHEZ – The Loyd Star Cross Country Team competed in the Natchez High School Cross-Country meet last Tuesday and the Lady Hornets managed to take home second place in the 4K run.

The battle between runners Abby Massey of Natchez Cathedral and Abby Thomas of Loyd Star was heated race for first place. The two were neck and neck as they rounded the racetrack. Abby Massey finished with 14:58 and Abby Thomas finished with 14:59.

In the junior varsity contest, the Loyd Star junior boys won first place with a score of 25. The first three overall finishers to cross the finish line were Loyd Star’s Jett Calcote in first place, Dane Smith in second place, and Roberto Galindo in third place.
