Funeral Services for Josie Gaskin Smith of The Arbor of Ridgland are 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel, 894 Natchez Drive, with burial in Riverwood Memorial Park. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, one hour prior to service time at the funeral home.

Mrs. Smith, 96, died Sept. 16, 2014, at her residence. She was born on Nov. 9, 1917, in Caseyville to George B. Gaskin and Rea Higdon Gaskin.

She was a homemaker and longtime member of First Baptist Church of Brookhaven. She was a member of several bridge clubs, the Wildwood Garden Club and the Mothers Club. She was also an avid gardener and loved cooking.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Jack Burton Smith Sr.; her sister, Georgia Rea Smith; and son-in-law, Bob Campbell.

Survivors are her children, Jack B. Smith Jr. (Phyllis) of Brandon, Ann Campbell of Madison and Betty Taylor (Dale) of Florence, Alabama; her grandchildren, Jennifer Moyer (Doug), Lana Easterling (Alan), Amy Cook (Clark), Jason Taylor (Sarah), Ben Taylor, Zach Taylor; her 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thank you to the Hospice Ministries, Inc. of Ridgeland and the caregivers at The Arbor including Theresa Grant, Cynthia Wegman, Bobbye Thomas, Bobbie Fort, Millie Vance and Bessie Epps.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity in memory of Mrs. Smith.
