Funeral Services for Beth Ann Briggs Smith are 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel, 894 Natchez Drive, with burial in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, and will resume again on Saturday at 8 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Smith died Sept. 15, 2014, at her residence in Pearl River, Louisiana. She was born on Oct. 4 in Madison, Wisconsin, to Burl E. and Ida Hughbanks Briggs.

Mrs. Smith attended East High School in Madison, Wisconsin. She married Herman Smith in 1957. After his service in the Air Force they resided in New Orleans and Brookhaven. She was a caregiver to many in the community. Mr. Smith enjoyed the simple things in life; her family, her flowers, putting puzzles together and friends. She cared for her husband the last nine years of his life.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Herman Smith; and her brother, Robert Briggs.

Survivors are her daughter, Barbara Farve of Harvy, Louisiana, and her son, Ricky Smith of Scott, Louisiana; her sister, Shirley Miller of San Diego, California; her grandchildren, Kenneth “Toot” Farve and wife, Brenda, Mindy Farve and husband, John, Ricky Smith and wife, Veronica and Kayla Smith; 10 great-grandchildren; two aunts, Georgia Day and LaVeta Bryant; along with many cousins she grew up with in Wisconsin.
