Funeral Services for Ralph Johns Turnbo Jr. of Wesson are 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014, at Sylvarena Baptist Church with burial in Wesson Cemetery. Riverwood Family Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Sylvarena and will resume from noon until 1 p.m. before the service on Wednesday.

Mr. Turnbo, 68, died Sept. 22, 2014, at his residence. He was born on May 24, 1946, in Grenada to Ralph Johns Turnbo Sr. and Mary Louise Moore Turnbo.

He was a 1964 graduate of Copiah-Lincoln High School, 1966 graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Junior College and a 1970 graduate of the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science. He worked for the Mississippi Department of Health from 1970 until he retired in June 2005 as director of the On-Site Wastewater Program. He was also a gunsmith and co-owner of Harbison-Turnbo Gunsmiths Inc. in McComb for 20 plus years, and he was a devout member of Sylvarena Baptist Church in Wesson.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Dorcas Kennedy Turnbo; his son, Ralph Johns Turnbo III and wife, Stephanie, of Wesson; his daughter, Barbara T. Ysidron and husband, Joe, of Clinton; grandchildren, Molly and Alex Slonaker, of Clinton, Austin and Tyler Turnbo, of Wesson; brothers, William Moore Turnbo and wife, Lynette, of Crystal Springs, and James Robert Turnbo, of Hattiesburg; two nieces, Bethany Turnbo Beagles and Melissa T. King, of Crystal Springs; and one great nephew, Will King.
