Funeral Services for Truly Aster Smith of Brookhaven are 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel, 894 Natchez Drive, with burial in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery. Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014, from 5 until 8 p.m. at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive.

Mr. Smith, 94, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, at Countrybrook Living Center. He was born on April 4, 1920, in Lincoln County to Allen Erwin Smith and Ollie Vaughan Smith.

He was owner/operator of Smith Brothers Lumber Company. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church of Brookhaven. He was a Mason and a member of the Shriners Club. He also served his country in the U.S. Navy.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his first wife, Ruby M. Smith; his sons, Truly A. (Buddy) Smith, Jr., Jackie W. Harveston and Alton Wayne Harveston; his daughters, Sylvia (Sue) Smith, Patricia A. Prather, Carolyn Pepper and Gail Harveston; granddaughter, Tiffany Diane Thompson; his brothers, Lawson A. Smith and Herman Howard Smith; and his sister Ina Mae Smith

Survivors are his wife, Mary A. Howe Smith of Brookhaven; three sons, Clyde E. Smith and wife, Ann, Freddie Harveston, Sr. and wife, Ruby and Jim Harveston and wife, Darlene, all of Brookhaven; four daughters, Diane Pepper of Lake City, Florida, Kathy Thompson and husband, Leslie, Judy Dykes and husband, Luke and Dale Perone, all of Brookhaven; 23 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and a very large extended family of nieces and nephews.
