Enterprise overwhelms Sacred Heart

Enterprise basketball fans received an early Christmas gift on Friday night as the girls’ and boys’ varsity teams picked up wins over the visiting Sacred Heart Crusaders.

The Enterprise Lady Jackets (10-3) dominated from the start en route to a 51-30 win.

In the boys’ game, Enterprise (7-6) stung the Crusaders 78-59.

Enterprise returns to action on Dec. 26 as they travel to Hattiesburg to compete in the Sacred Heart Christmas Tournament. The Yellow Jackets will battle St. Aloysius in the first round of the tournament. The girls’ game will tip-off at 3 followed by the boys’ contest.

Enterprise 51, Sacred Heart 30 

The Enterprise Lady Jackets closed out the first half of their season with a 51-30 victory over Sacred Heart.

Defense was key as the Lady Jackets owned a 21-7 lead at halftime. Enterprise continued to separate themselves from the Lady Crusaders as they pushed their lead to 20 points after three quarters of action.

Hannah Kirtfield was the offensive leader for the Lady Jackets as she scored 11 points to go along with four steals. Fellow senior Megan Rippy added another eight points in the Enterprise win.

Alissa Barlow was the leader for the Lady Jackets on the backboards as she grabbed nine rebounds. Carlee Nations had six steals in the win for Enterprise.

Sacred Heart was led by Hannah Burks’ 10 points.

Enterprise 78, Sacred Heart 59 

In the varsity boys’ game, Enterprise cruised past Sacred Heart 78-59. The Yellow Jackets came out of the gate with full-court pressure and overwhelmed the Crusaders. Enterprise led 19-10 after one quarter of action.

After an evenly played second quarter, the Yellow Jackets maintained a 35-27 advantage at intermission. Dwayne Pendleton fired in a game-high 24 points for Enterprise.

Teammate Jontavious Smith pumped in 23 points to add to Enterprise’s total. In the third quarter, the Yellow Jackets took control of the game leading 60-43 heading into the fourth quarter.

Sacred Heart was led by Harrison Hicks’ 10 points in the loss.
