Funeral Services for Sarah Johnson of Brandon are 3 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, with a graveside service following at Wesson Cemetery. Brother Tom Pace will be officiating. Pallbearers are Marshall Boyette, James Berry, Ken Gill, Thomas Waldon, Kenneth Kendrick, and Brad Dickerson. Honorary pallbearer is Tim Waldon Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, is in charge of arrangements.

Visitation is Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, from 1 p.m. until time of service at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive.

Mrs. Johnson, 86, died Friday, Feb. 20, 2015, at Merit Hospital in Brandon. She was born on March 26, 1928, in Rankin County to John Ivy and Elta Lee Grantham Gill.

She was a native of the Johns community in Rankin County and a long-time resident of Wesson. She graduated from Hinds Junior College and the University of Southern Mississippi. She was a retired home economics teacher at Copiah-Lincoln Community College and Wesson High School. She was a long-time member of Wesson Baptist Church and was a former member of the Wesson Garden Club. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Preceding her in death were parents; husband, Donald Edward Johnson; brothers, Monroe Gill, Earl Gill, Andrew Gill, Francis Guy Gill, Fred Gill and Grady Gill; and sister, Lucille Gill Shotts.

Survivors are her son, Danny Johnson and wife, Pam, of Vicksburg; daughter, Dianne Johnson Waldon and husband, Tim, of Brandon; sister, Ruth Gill Smalhout, Jean Gill Mills, Helen Gill Van Fleet, Dorothy Gill Montgomery and Carolyn Gill Dickerson; brother, Kenneth Gill; grandchildren, Thomas Waldon and Leah Waldon; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Donald and Sarah Johnson Scholarship, Copiah-Lincoln Community College, P.O. Box 649, Wesson, MS 39191.
