RAYMOND – In a near perfectly played baseball match-up and just as they did earlier this week, the Central Hinds Cougars and the Brookhaven Academy Cougars dueled their way to a scoreless tie going into the bottom of the sixth inning in Raymond. The CH Cougars were able to manufacture a run on a safety squeeze play and hold on for the narrow 1-0 victory.

BA junior Bryce White kept the Cougars in the game going 5 1/3 innings before turning the ball over to Zach Dickerson in the sixth. White finished the night with five strikeouts and scattering just three Central Hinds hits. Jackson Smith picked up the win for CH striking out five in his afternoon of work.

Taylor Freeny doubled for BA. Heath Hickman and JP Jackson added support with a single each. Brian King, Hunter Harvey, Wes Acey and Josh Banes paced the home standing CH Cougars at the plate with a single apiece.

BA head coach Casey Edwards commented on the contest, “No surprise this was another good ballgame.” “Bryce (White) pitched well tonight but we have to make some plays with the bats in key situations.” Edwards concluded, “Give Central Hinds credit, they made every play defensively in the field.”

BA will host the Simpson Academy Cougars Monday night at Harold Williams Ballpark. JV first pitch scheduled for 5 pm.

Madison Smith had two hits for the Cougars in the win. Warren, Dawson Zumbro, Chase Freeman, Carter Culbertson and Dylan Burt each added a single to the BA total.
