Wesson sweeps series against Hazlehurst

WESSON -The Wesson Cobras welcome the Hazlehurst Indians to town Wednesday night and came out on top in two varsity doubleheader games with a final scores of 12-0 and 15-1.

The Cobras are schedule to host the Lawrence County Cougars Saturday. Game time is 12 p.m. for junior varsity action and 2 p.m. for varsity.

The Wesson Cobras dominated the Hazlehurst Indians in game one Wednesday night. The Cobras racked the runs on the scoreboard to finish the game with a 12-0 win in four innings of action.

Cobras’ pitcher, Mack Smith, averaged five strikeouts. The Indians were unable to get a batter on base with the aggressive Cobra defense.

Preston Middleton powered the Cobras attack with a double and a single. Tyer McLeod had a double. Jeremy Smith, Jimmie McQuage, Ryan Traxler and Max Daughdrill all hit a single each. First baseman Alex Mooney fielded five outs with assistance from short stop Tyler McLeod and third baseman Justin Boone.

Indians’ pitcher, N. Smith, averaged five walks and five strikeouts. Q. Copeland was the top fielder for the Indians and fielded two outs in center field.

Wesson 15, Hazlehurst 1 

The Wesson Cobras continued to roll in game two over the Hazlehurst Indians The Cobras finished the game in two inning contest to claim a 15-1 win.

Cobras’ pitcher, Justin Boone, averaged five strikeouts and two walks.

Seniors Mack Smith and Tyler McLeod both hit a home run, which helped load up the runs on the scoreboard. McLeod’s home run was a grand slam. Max Daughdrill and Jeremy Smith hit a single each.

The Indians’ pitcher for the second game (name not available) averaged 14 walks. Stuard was the top fielder for the Indians and fielded four outs in left field.
