Funeral services for Johnnie David O’Gwynn are Friday, May 15, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Purvis with burial in Enon Cemetery in Columbia. Hathorn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Bro. Clyde Cooper, Bro. Jess Greer and Bro. David Parker will be officiating. Pallbearers will be Melvin O’Gwynn, Colton Welch, Nic Parker, Mike Riley, Joe Bullock and Darrell Peavy.

Visitation is Thursday, May 14, 2015, from 5 until 8 p.m. at the church.

Mr. O’Gwynn, 87, of Columbia, died on Sunday, May 10, 2015, at Forrest General Hospital.

Mr. Johnnie was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired after a long career at masonite in Laurel. He was a faithful member of Enon Landmark Missionary Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his father, Thomas J. O’Gwynn; mother, Melissa O’Gwynn; three brothers, Alfred, Lonnie and Charlie; eight sisters, Lula Bea, Lizzy, Mary, Eula Mae, Alma, Bessie, Louise and Millie; his wife, Esther O’Gwynn; and one daughter, Alice Elizabeth Robertson.

Survivors are his wife, Marilyn O’Gwynn of Columbia; granddaughter, Veronica Stewart (James) of Oakland, Maine; grand-niece, Delicia Parker (David) of Purvis; two step-sons, Chris Welch (Carolyn) of Bogue Chitto, Craig Welch (Amy) of Denham Springs, Louisiana; six grandchildren; Nic and Austin Parker of Purvis, Courtney and Colton Welch of Bogue Chitto, Tyler and Carson Welch of Denham Springs, Louisiana; and two great-grandchildren, Bryce and Lukas Stewart of Oakland, Maine.
