Co-Lin student-athletes pile up MACJC academic honors

JACKSON – The Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges has honored 25 Copiah-Lincoln student-athletes for their classroom excellence in 2014-2015.

Ten of those student-athletes have been honored by being named MACJC Distinguished All-State for having a GPA of 3.80 or higher. Distinguished recipients include Caroleah Brister of Brookhaven (tennis), Gregory Causey of Petal (golf), Allie Dear of Florence (tennis), Steve Del Cid of Wesson (tennis), Matthew Evans of Brookhaven (baseball), Cullen Greer of Wesson (football), Koy McFarland of Wesson (football), Brandon Nettles of Wesson (tennis), Jacob Ross of Brookhaven (golf) and Alex Smith of Wesson (baseball).

Del Cid, Greer and Nettles all maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA during their careers at Co-Lin.

Recognized as MACJC Academic All-State for having a GPA of 3.25-3.79 were Kristen Byrd of Monticello (softball), Kamry Creel of McComb (softball), Daniel Fitzwater of Shreveport, Louisiana (football); Jacob Fleming of Summit (football), Trent Furr of Ackerman (football), Savannah Johnston of Summit (softball), Brooke Laigast of Madisonville, Louisiana (softball); Nick Luckey of Magee (football), Tanner Parvin of Brookhaven (baseball), Carly Riley of New Hebron (tennis), Zach Smith of Brookhaven (football), Adrienne Wallace of Bogue Chitto (softball), Wesley Watts of Brandon (baseball), Rheagan Welch of Bogue Chitto (softball), and Quintarius Willis of Greenville (football).
