Dr. and Mrs. James Jeffery Boyd, of Brookhaven, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Allison Gray Boyd, to Derrick Tyler Layton, of Madison.

He is the son of Ms. Kimberly Darlene Layton, of Canton, and Mr. and Mrs. Derrick Norwood Layton, of Madison.

She is the granddaughter of Margaret Gray Chism, of Brookhaven and formerly Tupelo, the late John Maury Chism, Mrs. Joyce Boyd Livingston, of Tupelo, the late Jim Long Livingston and the late James Dawayne Boyd.

He is the grandson Michael Bruce, of Shreveport, Louisiana, the late Mrs. Glenda Waaga, formerly of Gulfport, Mrs. Phyllis Layton, of Greenville, the late Mr. John Silvey Layton Jr. and Mrs. and Mrs. Ronald Charles Jones, of Madison.

The bride-elect is a 2010 graduate of Brookhaven High School and a 2014 graduate of Mississippi College where she received a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She is currently a student in the master’s degree program in marriage and family counseling at Reformed Theological Seminary.

The prospective groom is a 2014 graduate of Mississippi College where he received a degree in business administration. He is currently employed as the manager of Lou’s Full-Serv Restaurant in Jackson.

The couple will exchange vows on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Jackson.
