Greeting Readers, God holy words speaks to his people about the power of prayers for the believers in John 15 :7. Jesus said, “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given to you.” God and his Son Jesus Christ are awesome and are worthy to be praised.

Jericho Church of Christ located at 2999 James Drive North West in the Loyd Star community invites you to attend their Annual Gospel Meeting starting July 26 – 31, 2015. The guest speaker for these services will be Brother M. Todd Bernard of Lexington, Kentucky. Monday through Friday Night Services will begin at 7:30 p.m. with the guest speaker speaking each night. This gospel meeting will continue with Sunday morning service beginning at 10:30 a.m. followed with lunch after the morning service. Following lunch there will be an evening service at 2 p.m. Pastor Robert Adams Jr. along with the Assistant Bro. Curtis and the entire church family welcomes everyone to attend these services. Eva Hall Harris School, Lincoln County Training School, Friendship and Progress School First Legacy Hall of Honor Program kicked-off the beginning of the 10th School Reunion on Friday morning at 10 a.m. at Lincoln Civic Center in Brookhaven. The honorees for this great occasion were: Robert Earl Robinson Sr. a member of Progress School class of 1960, was presented by his classmate Marian Ballard James. He is a small farmer of Brookhaven and Lincoln County, and he also serves many adjoining counties. He hires young people in the various communities to help on the farm and then sets up scholarships for them to apply for. These scholarships help with their schooling.

Harry Bracey of Bogue Chitto a member of the Eva Harris class of 1968 was presented by his classmate Charles McMorris. Harry enjoy helping others and he is a former veterans. He served his country well in the Vietnam War and is the recipient of the Purple Heart that he earned while serving in action.

Evangelist Willie Ray Watkins was presented by his sister Emma Watkins Cook he is a firm believer in the powers of Jesus Christ. He teaches young and old alike about the goodness of God through his Son Jesus Christ, and he cares about each person. He exemplies a leadership ability and will help anyone who is in need. He served his country well in the U.S. Air Force with active duty in Vietnam.

Myra Wilson Black a member of the Eva Harris class of 1968 was presented by her sister Sandra Wilson Addison. Myra has served her community well as secretary for various organizations, and she also serve as secretary of her church. She has served the alumni well from 1993 to 2008 some 15 years and through six School Reunions as secretary of the Eva H. Harris and Lincoln County Schools’ Alumni Committee. She is a person who has helped the communities well through many integral parts, such as the Salvation Army Bell Ringing Service. She also helped with the meals for the handicap and the disabled throughout the different communities and she help disabled and older people with their errands and getting their medicine when needed.

Mary Frances Lyons McMorris a member of the Eva Harris class of 1964 was presented by a schoolmate Minister Johnnie M. Ferdinand Upkins. Mary is a retired teacher and is very active in her church also in the different communities. Being involved in the betterment of the different communities has always been a joy to Mary Frances because helping others means so much to her. She is a true caregiver and to see someone that she care about improve or is restored to health, or see them get-up and interact again, is a gift from God to her. She also, enjoys helping young people with the different tasks that they are faced with today. Mary enjoys telling people about the goodness of God and what he can mean to his or her life.

Cleon McKnight a 1963 graduate of Eva Harris School and a native of Bogue Chitto who now resides in Jackson with his wife Gloria, was presented by Marian Ballard James. Cleon served as a chemistry professor in the Hinds Community College District for 32 years, with 15 of these years on the Utica Campus and 17 years on the Raymond campus. For 22 of those years he served as the head men’s and women’s tennis coach. He retired from coaching in 1999 and as a chemistry instructor in 2001. He was consistently viewed by the HCCD Administrators as one of the elit academic instructors on campus. He has also being involved in teaching children who are physically and mentally challenged and various private groups at all levels.

Cora Bracey Edwards a member of Eva Harris class of 1966 where she graduated as the valedictorian of her class. She was presented by her classmate Sandra W. Addison. Cora is a retired teacher and educator of Jackson and Brookhaven School Districts. She has conducted various workshops and has been the speaker for many different occasions. She has held membership in numerous civic and sacred organizations, locally, statewide and nationally. She has served as the director of Willawood Child Care Center, and she is the CEO of Toot’s Florist in Brookhaven. She is actively involved in her sorority groups Zeta Phi Beta and others. She is married to Rev. Eugene Edwards who also serve as her pastor at New Zion M. B. Church in Bogue Chitto. Cora was instrumental in helping to organize the Eva Hall Harris and Lincoln County Schools’ Alumni committee, and she served as the second president of this great group from 1995 to 2008 and through five reunions. She is still actively involved with this group as an advisor. Cora’s mission is to do what is needed of her and to aid others if she is needed.

Patricia Evans Hartwell is a member of Eva Harris class of 1971 and was presented by her schoolmate Evelyn Richardson Buie. She attended Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s nursing program and later she attended Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan where she received her registered nurse license and associate’s degree in nursing. She received nurse of the month and nurse of the year in 1999 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Patricia volunteers at the United Way of Michigan. She supports the UNCF and gives counseling and teaching on good healthy lifestyles and preventions. She also helped to teach newly found diabetics how to deal and cope with their diabetes. She has gone to various jails, juvenile centers and senior citizen homes sharing the love of God in songs. She also volunteers to give the elderly and disabled rides to doctor’s appointments, church services and events. She tries to be an encouragement to all. In her free time she design clothes and enjoy doing it.
