Greeting Readers, God speaks to the heart of his people in James 1: 17 about talents as a gift, and they read: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”

Loyd Star School football department are gearing-up for a Golden 50 Year Anniversary celebration that will be held at the school on Oct. 16 starting at 5 p.m. The football players of the class of 1965 were the first class to play football on the W. E. Sambo Football Field and Wayne Smith the son of Hart and the late Dorothy Jean Smith was the first quarterback to perform on this field. This is a fifty-year honor for the class of 1965, and they will be recognized as the special team of the evening. This invitation is also extended to you, you and you. If you attended Loyd Star School/Attendance Center and played football at any time from 1965 to 2015 you are cordially invited to attend this grand celebration. This is a formal invitation to all former coaches, former assistant coaches, former persons over the athletic department, former players and former trainers of this great school.

This celebration will start with a reception that will be held in the cafeteria. Special tables will be set-up in honor of the class of 1965 and tables will also be set-up for all other classes and groups so that you can fellowship with one another. Coach Adam Cook, his coaching staff and his present football team, principal Robin Case along with the teachers and staff members of Loyd Star Attendance Center are looking forward to seeing each of you at the game at 7 p.m. There will also, be special events and activities during the game on the football field. Congratulations, to the Loyd Attendance Center 2015 homecoming court that were recognized on Friday morning during the parade and the pep rally on campus and again on Friday night before the football game. The 12th grade homecoming maids and escorts were Caitlyn Beard and Gene Evans, Kelsie McCullough and Austin Strittman and Jordan Shelby and Brad Jasper. The 11th grade homecoming maid was Taryn Humphrey who was escorted by Adicuz Harris. Anna Grace Smith and Peyton Bullock were the 10th grade maid and escort. Anna Katelyn Britt and Jett Calcote were the ninth grade maid and escort. Tabby Wyant and Tanner Watts were the eighth grade maid and escort. Gracie Smith and Wyatt Hodges were the seventh grade maid and escort. The high school football maid and escort were Taylor Berch and Brayden Brister and the junior high school football maid and escort were Taylor Smith and Harrison Brownlee. The flower girl and the crown bearer were Maddie Kate Britt and Tolar Jordan. Miss Loyd Star was Toni Allison Jordan Banks, and Mr Loyd Star was Levi Redd. The Loyd Star Attendance Center 2015 homecoming queen is Caitlyn Beard a senior. She is the daughter of Dwayne and Yolanda Smith Beard and the sister of Dorian and Calia Beard. The 2014 queen Anna Beth Smith crowned Caitlyn on the football field during this ceremony on Sept. 25 before the homecoming game. Special congratulations to Caitlyn on this great milestone in your life. As you continue to go forward in your many, many endeavors that you will be confronted with in life may you look back at this moment in your high school accomplishments and victory and feel proud and blessed. Your parents, siblings, grandparents, great-grandparents, uncles, aunts, your cousins, your school and the community are proud of you and wish for God’s riches blessings and his speed to be with you. As you move forward as the 2015 Queen of Loyd Star Attendance Center and as a very special person, we wish you well. Caitlyn you are truly loved and blessed by God. “You Go Girl!”

Congratulations, to the Loyd Star Attendance Center coaching staff and the football team for your accomplishments during the Homecoming game that was played on Sept. 25 against Stringer on the W. E. Sambo Football Field. Even though you did not win (as we know that you all wanted to) we are proud of you and your efforts. We hope that you will go forward in God’s speed and succeed in the remaining games at home and away.

Eva Hall Harris and Lincoln County Schools’ Alumni parade in downtown Brookhaven that was held July 11 ended as a success for the former students, teachers, businesses, special guests and all who participated in it. The parade was colorful, cheerful and lots of fun as it rolled through the streets of Brookhaven.

The first place winners of the floats was the Eva Harris Class of 1971 and the second place winner was the Eva Harris Class of 1970. Trucks were also decorated and judged during this parade and the winners were: first place truck was Eva Harris Class of 1973, the second place winner was one of the Golden Classes, Eva Harris Class of 1964 who celebrated their 50th year anniversary in 2014 and were honored during the 2015 Reunion and the third place winner was the Eva Harris Class of 1975 who were honored for their 40th year anniversary during the reunion in 2015. A special thanks to all who participated in this parade and a special congratulations to all of the winners who were recognized during the banquet. May God continue to bless each class and each individual daily.

Eva Harris and Lincoln County Schools’ Alumni will meet on Oct. 20 for a regular meeting and to elect officers. All students and teachers are invited to please come out and be a part of this meeting. On Nov. 24, there will be a meting and a grocery raffle. Tickets are being sold throughout the neighborhoods and if you have not purchased one please do so at $1 per ticket from a committee member.

Damascus Church will have their annual revival Oct. 11, with Rev. Phillip Hamilton bringing the message at 1 p.m.  and the  Evangelist for the week will be Rev. Victor Mackabee beginning 7 p.m. nightly. Rev. Robert Daniels will bring the morning service message at 11:30 a.m. Dinner will be served in the fellowship hall on Sunday.
