Funeral services for Dr. William Ray Callender Jr. of Bogue Chitto are Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Riverwood Family Funeral Service with private burial at 1 p.m. at Tylertown City Cemetery. 

Visitation is Monday, April 25, 2016, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Riverwood.

Dr. Callender, 65, died Saturday, April 23, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born March 29, 1951.

He served in the United States Air Force from 1980 to 1988, where he received the Merit Medal of Honor. He was a family practice doctor at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.

Preceding him in death were his father, William Ray Callender Sr.; two grandfathers; two grandmothers; one cousin; two aunts; and one uncle.

Survivors are his wife, Bonnie A. Callender; son, William Ray Callender III; mother, Floyce Lee Tarver; two sisters, Linda Rape and Gena Callender; brother, Joseph Callender; and mother-in-law, Granny Hen.
