Brookhaven boots Copiah in Dixie Boys

NATCHEZ – Adam Ogden hit for the cycle Wednesday night, leadingthe Brookhaven All-Stars to an 18-4 trouncing of Copiah County inthe Dixie Boys 14s District Four Tournament at Liberty Park. Ogdenhomered, tripled, doubled and singled as Brookhaven remained alivein the double-elimination tournament.
Brookhaven meets unbeaten Natchez tonight at 6 in thefinals.
Rebounding from an opening round loss to Claiborne County, theBrookhaven All-Stars produced an offensive explosion last night,collecting 19 hits and winning their third straight tournamentgame. Brooks Hall and Ogden both homered in the 4-run fourth inningas Brookhaven broke open a 4-4 game.
Hall was the winning pitcher with 5 strikeouts and 1 walk to hiscredit. Tommy Crockett was charged with the loss.
At the plate, Hall finished with 3 hits. Kenny Smith singledtwice and doubled. David Cuevas and Landon Case doubled andsingled.
Brookhaven’s John Wayne Harvard singled twice. Josh Patrick andJonathon Strong also hit safely. as Brookhaven scored 7 runs in thetop of the sixth.
Singles by Vince Rials, Josh Berch, Joseph Lopez, Greg Thompkinsand Crockett accounted for Copiah’s hits. Copiah committed 7 errorscompared to 2 by Brookhaven.
