Columbia eliminates Lincoln Co. from Majors

COLUMBIA -The State Bank/Lincoln County All-Stars wereeliminated 14-4 Wednesday by Columbia in the sweat-soaked DixieMajors State Tournament. Lincoln County finished fourth in thedouble-elimination tournament.

Columbia plays unbeaten Laurel/Jones County tonight in thechampionship game. Lincoln County was the 1999 champion.

“We were just worn out from the previous day,” said LincolnCounty coach Shane Stokes. “We had a good year and I am proud ofthe way our kids played.”

Jimmy McCain pitched the win over Lincoln County. He struck out8 batters and walked 3, allowing 4 runs on 4 hits.

Chase Coley went 1 inning and absorbed the loss as Columbia tooka 3-0 lead. Blake Wall replaced Coley and finished the game,striking out 1 batter and walking 2. Wall allowed 11 runs on 6hits.

A pair of 2-run homers by McCain led Columbia’s attack. MikeHudson homered and doubled. Joseph Kyzar doubled twice andsingled.

Lincoln County was led by Wall who singled twice. Adam Speeg andColey singled.
