Menzie “Mid” Patterson

Services for Menzie “Mid” Patterson of Wesson are 11 a.m.,Saturday, July 22, at Pine Grove M.B. Church in Sontag with burialin Little Rock M.B. Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday, July 21, from noon until 7 p.m. withfamily hour from 6-7 p.m. at Williams Mortuary.

Mr. Patterson, 83, died July 16, 2000, in New Orleans. He wasborn on Aug. 8, 1916, to Jake Martin and Cora Martin.

He was retired.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, MenziePatterson Jr.; and five brothers and three sisters.

Survivors are his wife, Estee Patterson of Wesson; his sons,Charles Patterson of Los Angeles and Emell Patterson of NewOrleans; his godson, Elbert Cyperian of Independence, La.; hisdaughters, Dorothy McWilliams and Shirley Anderson, both of NewOrleans, Ethel Smith of Los Angeles, Gladean Smith of Wesson, andDebra Wilburn of Indianapolis, Ind.; his sister, Ruby Lewis ofNatchez; and 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services for Dewey E. Rushing Sr. of Collins are 2 p.m.,Thursday, July 20, at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Magee withburial in Good Water Baptist Church Cemetery in Magee.

Mr. Rushing, 78, died July 18, 2000, of heart failure atCovington County Hospital. He was born in Lincoln County on May 29,1922, to Fred A. Rushing and Daisy Stinson Rushing.

He was a retired grocery manager. He was a member of FirstBaptist Church in Magee. He was a veteran of the Navy.

Preceding him in death were his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Martha Pennington Rushing; his sons,Pete Rushing and Greg Rushing, both of Magee; his daughter, JaniceRoberts of Birmingham, Ala.; his brothers, Ray Rushing ofBrookhaven and Kenneth Rushing of Brandon; his sister, Dot Cates ofCleveland; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
