Morel turns back Mader in Pike Co. Street Stock

MAGNOLIA – Robert Morel had the lead by turn one in the StreetStock Feature. The only yellow of the race flew when Todd Rogersand Silas Martin Jr. connected in two.

Rogers tagged the rear on the restart. Tom Mader caught Morelbut was unable to take the lead. Morel took the win followed byMader, Reuben Allred, Jason Holland and Silas Martin, Jr. Rogersand Morel took heat wins.

Novice B Main: Allen led every lap of the Novice B Mainbut couldn’t pass tech and was disqualified, giving the win toShawn Barber. Second place went to Leonard Barrileaux, third wentto Michael Barfield who blew his brand new motor in the race heat;borrowed Johnny Michel’s car for the feature and started dead last.Fourth went to Rustin Cain.

UMP: After sharing heat wins in the UMP, Will Duncan andMichael Blount made up the front row for the feature. Duncan wentdown under pole sitter Blount and took the lead. Duncan neverlooked back. Duncan scored the win and said without all of BrantTirello’s help, he wouldn’t have done it. Blount took second, RandyLeonard worked his way up to third, Woody Shivers fourth androunding out the top five was Greg Freeman.

Pure Stock: Heat winners were Jamie Blades and JimmyStephens. Blades from the pole took the lead on the drop of thegreen followed by Stephens. A five-car pileup in turn one broughtthe yellow out. On the restart, it was Blades leading followed byRandy Brownell who suffered mechanical problems and went into thepits.

Blades led every lap and put his Terry Labonte look-a-like inthe win column again. Second went to Heath Willard, third DanielBoydof Brookhaven, fourth Hardy McMillan and fifth Stephens.

Super Stock: Joey Stephens earned the pole after the EyeCare Plus Super Stock shared heat wins with Seavy Clemons. BillyGordon blasted to the head of the class and took over the lead. Athree-wide battle for second raged behind Gordon; Clemons, Vicknairand Humphreys. Clemons won that battle. Gordon took the win.Clemons took second. Vicknair third, Joyce Shelton fourth andHumphreys fifth.

Novice A Main: Justin Bowman, Chad Coon and John Simeonran three wide for the lead on the start of the Novice A Main.Bowman popped out like toothpaste out of a tube and into the leadas he led every lap and scored the feature win. Darrell Guy tooksecond from Coon in the final laps. Coon finished third. ClaytonSimpson worked his way to fourth and Billy McDaniels fifth. HeathChambliss, John Simeon and Bowman all took heat wins.

Late Models: Eric Courville took heat and feature winsfor Late Models. Courville drag raced with Ricky May to turn onewhere he moved into the lead. Courville led all 20 laps of thecaution free feature and took the checkered. Ricky May took second.David Knight third, Raymond Taylor fourth and Davin Batesfifth.

Powder Puff: Carolyn Dean wasted no time putting herCougar out front in the Powder Puff. Dean led every lap and scoredher first win. Billy Jo Barfield took second and Kim Martinthird.
