L.R. ‘Ross’ Jarrell

Services for L.R. “Ross” Jarrell of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Sunday, Aug. 20, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inShiloh Cemetery in Lawrence County.

Mr. Jarrell, 95, died Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, of heart failureat Beverly Health Care. He was born in Colquitte, La., on Oct. 28,1904.

He was retired from retail sales. He was a lifelong member anddeacon of First Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death was his wife, Mildred Jarrell.

Survivors are his daughters, Carolyn Cockrell of Hallsville,Texas, and Rosalyn Drowley of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren;11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

Roy Gene Lofton

Services for Roy Gene Lofton of McCall Creek are 11 a.m. Sunday,Aug. 20, at Ramah Baptist Church in Franklin County with burial inthe church cemetery.

Visitation is Sunday, Aug. 20, from 9-10 a.m. at BrookhavenFuneral Home.

Mr. Lofton, 66, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at SouthwestMississippi Regional Medical Center. He was born in Franklin Countyon Jan. 12, 1934, to the late Bill and Agnes Smith Lofton.

He was retired from International Paper Company after 37 years.He was a member of of Ramah Baptist Church, where he served as adeacon for 22 years and was the chairman of deacons for the pastseven years.

Survivors are his wife, Pattie Watts Lofton of McCall Creek; oneson and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Patsy Lofton of Summit; onedaughter and son-in-law, Angie and Stan Smith of McCall Creek;sister, Helen Magee of McCall Creek; and three grandchildren, Jamieand Corby Smith of McCall Creek and Kelly Lofton of Summit.

Robert Wayne McDowell

Services for Robert Wayne McDowell of Jackson are 10 a.m.Monday, Aug. 21, at New Prospect Baptist Church here with burial inRoselawn Cemetery in Gloster.

Visitation is Sunday, Aug. 20, from 6-9 p.m. at BrookhavenFuneral Home.

Mr. McDowell, 61, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, of cancer at hisresidence. He was born in Coles on Aug. 1, 1939, to the late JohnHenry and Etta Minor McDowell.

He was an electronics technician. He was a member of NewProspect Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two infant sons; and asister, Elaine Netterville.

Survivors are his wife, Olive Campbell McDowell of Jackson;sons, James Krandall McDowell of Brandon, Timothy McDowell ofBrookhaven and Jonathan McDowell of Jackson; daughter, AngelaCarter of Natchez; brothers, Davis McDowell and J.H. McDowell ofCrosby; sisters Oneida Riddle of Slaughter, La., and Hattie Thomasof Crosby; and eight grandchildren.
