The Enterprise Lady Yellow Jackets handed the visiting WessonLady Cobras a tough 8-6 loss Thursday in slow-pitch softballaction.

Jessica Phillips ripped a home run in the bottom of the firstinning for a 1-0 lead for Wesson. Nikki Leggett singled forEnterprise who scored two runs on an error for a 2-1 lead.

In the second inning, Maggie Johnson singled for Wesson andAshley Palomarez hit a single for Enterprise as the Lady Jacketsheld a 2-1 lead over the Lady Cobras.

Third-inning action saw Kail Baldwin singled for Wesson. LaceyPalomarez and Stacey Sandifer singled for Enterprise who picked uptwo runs for a 4-1 lead over Wesson.

In the top of the fourth, Maggie Johnson drilled a two-run homerun to cut the deficit to 4-3. Nicole Beard singled for Enterprisein the bottom of the inning.

Anna Johnson homered for the Lady Cobras to tie the game at4-all in the top of the fifth inning. In the bottom of the fifth,Enterprise’s Megan Criswell, Sandifer and Nicole Floyd singled tospark a four-run scoring spree, giving the Lady Jackets an 8-4 leadover the Lady Cobras.

In the sixth, Phillips homered and Valorie Brooks singled forone run as Wesson cut the Enterprise lead to 8-5. Brandy Beeson hita single for the Lady Jackets.

Final inning action saw Wesson’s Brittany Smith and CaronBrister collected single apiece as the Lady Cobras added one morerun to cut the Enterprise lead to 8-6.

Both teams had nine hits and committed three errors. Wessoncommitted five errors and Enterprise had four.

Wesson visits Brookhaven Tuesday. Game time is 6 p.m. at theSports Complex.
