Services for Annie Ruth Hodges of Bogue Chitto are 11 a.m.,Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Montgomery Baptist Church with burial inMontgomery Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 5-9 p.m. at HartmanFuneral Home of McComb and Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at thechurch.

Mrs. Hodges, 79, died Sept. 10, 2000, at St. Dominic’s Hospitalin Jackson. She was born in Lincoln County on Feb. 25, 1921, toAcie Wallace and Eunah Moak Wallace.

She was retired from Kellwood. She was a member of MontgomeryBaptist Church. Her hobbies were cooking, gardening, and watchingher grandchildren participate in sports.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, James H.Hodges; her grandson, Rex Smith; her sisters, Inez Roberts andNorma Jean Hughes; and her brothers, Houston, Ray W., J. K., andDarel Wallace.

Survivors are her sons, James E. Hodges and Wayne Hodges, bothof Bogue Chitto, and Richard E. Hodges of Laurel; her daughters,Jeanette Smith, Marylyn Steele, and Bernita Moak, all of BogueChitto, and Cindy Williams of Wesson; her sisters, Louise Sumrallof McComb and Edna Earl Gibson of Bogue Chitto; and 20grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Sumrall, 95, died Sept. 10, 2000, of heart failure atBeverly Health Care. She was born in Jayess on July 16, 1905, toCarroll Carney and Isabelle Alexander Carney.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Jayess BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, FestusSumrall; and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors are her daughter, Dorothy S. Alexander of Jayess; hersons, Jerry M. Sumrall and Paul Sumrall, both of Natchez; and sixgrandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and sixgreat-great-grandchildren. Julus Thornton

Services for Julus Thornton of Meadville are 11 a.m., Wednesday,Sept. 13, at Franklin Funeral Home Chapel with burial in PleasantValley Church Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday, Sept. 12, from 6-10 p.m. at FranklinFuneral Home.

Mr. Thornton, 67, died Sept. 11, 2000, of heart failure atKing’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born in Franklin County onJan. 6, 1933, to Curtis Thornton and Vada Murray Thornton.

He was retired from International Paper Company in Natchez with36 years service. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Bude. Hewas a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and his infant son,Ronald Edd Thornton.

Survivors are his wife, Carolyn Thornton of Meadville; his sonsand daughters-in-law, Randy and Pat Thornton of Meadville, and Markand Millie Thornton of Bude; his daughters and sons-in-law, Vanessaand Ronnie Shelton and Joanna and Jamie Ashmore, all of Brookhaven;his brother, Bobby Joe Thornton of Natchez; his sister, Dorothy RaeBritt of Baton Rouge; his grandchildren, Brad Thornton, StacyRoberts, Jessica Thornton, Emily Thornton, Timmy Shelton, JenniferThornton, Brianna Ashmore, Joey Shelton, Austen Ashmore, LatoyaLackey, Leah Roberts, and Brandon Roberts; his great-grandchildren,Christopher Lackey and Caylen Roberts; and a host of nieces andnephews.
