Services for Beulah Ballard of Monticello are 2 p.m., Thursday,Sept. 21, at Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with burial in New HopeBaptist Church Cemetery.

Miss Ballard, 90, died Sept. 20, 2000, of heart failure atLawrence County Hospital. She was born in Lawrence County on Jan.13, 1910, to Robert and Nannie Fuller Ballard.

She was disabled. She was a member of New Hope BaptistChurch.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her twin brother, HulonBallard; her brothers, Recie Ballard, Plez Ballard, Ray Ballard,and Chesterfield Ballard; and her sisters, Eliza Jane Williamson,Evelyn Thames, and Maggie Ballard.

She is survived by her sister, Rosie Belle Smithie of Jayess.Dan Byrd

Services for Dan Byrd of Brookhaven were 2 p.m., Sunday, Sept.17, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial in MacedoniaBaptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Byrd, 77, died Sept. 14, 2000, of heart failure at KennerRegional Life Care Center. He was born in Jefferson County on April12, 1923, to Ed and Mary Lou Goodson Byrd.

He was a self-employed carpenter. He was a member of LocustGrove Baptist Church in Pritchett, Texas. He returned to Brookhavenafter living in Pritchett for 15 years.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Ruby Lee DurrByrd; his brothers, Willie, Clem, and Louie Byrd; and his sisters,Adiline, Lottie, and Lillie.

Survivors are his son, Daniel Byrd of Houston, Texas; hisdaughter, Shelia Delaughter of Brookhaven; and three grandchildrenand two great-grandchildren. Robert Lee Chandler

Services for Robert Lee Chandler of Brookhaven are 2:30 p.m.,Thursday, Sept. 21, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial inMacedonia Cemetery.

Mr. Chandler, 66, died Sept. 19, 2000, of heart failure atKing’s Daughters Medical Center. He was born in Lincoln County onSept. 19, 1934, to Henry Chandler and Evelyn Boling Chandler.

He was a retired production worker for Keystone Seneca WireCloth Company with 33 years service. He was a member of MacedoniaBaptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his son, Jackie WayneDurr; and his brothers, Lamar and Earl Chandler.

Survivors are his wife, Mildred Smith Chandler of Brookhaven;his sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Amanda Chandler and Jimmyand Suzette Durr, all of Brookhaven; his daughter and son-in-law,Darlene and Steve Smith of Brookhaven; his brother, Alvie Chandlerof Brookhaven; his sisters, Clara Bell Allen, Liz Foster, andMargurite Ferrell, all of Brookhaven, and Eva Nell Butcher ofTulsa, Okla.; and 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, andseveral nieces and nephews. Ms. Nelson, 89, died Sept. 18, 2000, at Jefferson County NursingHome. She was born in Franklin County on Feb. 14, 1911, to AndrewNelson Sr. and Mattie Nelson.

She was retired. She was a member of Christian Springs M.B.Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, JimmyNelson and Willie Nelson; and her sisters, Pearl Adams, GenevaCotton, and Lola Bell Dorsey.

Survivors are her sons, Eddie Adams of McComb and Larry Williamsof Magnolia; her daughter, Mattie Byrd of Brookhaven; her brothers,Charlie Nelson and Andrew Nelson, both of McCall Creek, RichardNelson and Jessie Nelson, both of Ogden, Utah, W. C. Nelson ofMobile, Ala., and Coye Nelson of Detroit, Mich.; her sisters,Cynthia Woods and Clara Cameron, both of McCall Creek; and 20grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
