Velma Smith
Services for Velma Smith of Union Church are incomplete. Mrs.Smith, 71, died Nov. 5, 2000, at King’s Daughters Medical Center.Williams Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Allison W. Duckworth
Services for Allison W. Duckworth of Magee were Sunday, Nov. 5,at Goodwater Baptist Church Cemetery. Colonial Chapel Funeral Homewas in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Duckworth, 76, died Nov. 3, 2000, of heart failure at V. A.Nursing Home in Collins. He was a native of Simpson County.
He was a retired farmer. He was a member of Oak Grove BaptistChurch in Mendenhall. He was an Army veteran of WWII.
Survivors are his brothers, Billy Duckworth of Monticello andCharles Duckworth of Jackson; and his sisters, Linda Lucas ofCharlotte, N.C., Cookie Polonchak of San Jose, Calif., WildaShofner of Jackson, and Dorothy Deen of Mendenhall.
Garrett P. Mullins
Services for Garrett P. Mullins of Mendenhall were 10 a.m.,Monday, Nov. 6, at Upton Funeral Home with burial in Oak GroveBaptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Mullins, 81, died Nov. 4, 2000, of a heart attack at afriend’s home in Magee.
He was a former constable, sheriff and county supervisor forSimpson County. He was a former chief of police and an alderman forMendenhall. He owned Mullins & Mullins Sawmill and MullinsDozer Service. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was aveteran of WWII.
Preceding him in death was his wife, May Mullins.
Survivors are his son, E. C. Mullins of Mendenhall; hisdaughters, Carolyn Magee of Jackson and Dora Berry of Mendenhall;his sisters, Catherine Lucas of Mendenhall, Beulah Hall of Lake,and Betty Mullins and Kay Chance, both of Silver Creek; hisbrothers, Max Mullins of D’Lo, Billy Mullins of Escatawpa, TeddyMullins of Mendenhall and Sam Mullins of Milton, Fla.; and fivegrandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Elizabeth Williams
Services for Elizabeth Williams of Brandon are 11 a.m., Tuesday,Nov. 7, at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl with burial in FloralHills Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Williams, 77, died Nov. 5, 2000, of heart failure at RankinMedical Center.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Robinhood BaptistChurch.
Survivors are her daughters, Inez Moore of Greenwood, MaryFonville of Florence, Nancy Dorris of Wichita Falls, Kan., andShirley Brown of Brownwood, Texas; her sons, John Williams andThomas Williams, both of Florence, James Williams of Braxton,Charles Williams and Robert Williams, both of Brandon, and EdwardWilliams of Rolla, Mo.; her brothers, James White of Brookhaven,Charles White of Mobile, and Caroll White and Earl White, both ofGreenville; and 29 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
