Co-Lin teams win pair from Holmes

GOODMAN – Co-Lin freshman center Quentin Christian pumped in 22points and pulled down 18 rebounds Thursday night to direct theWolves to an 85-67 win over the Holmes Bulldogs. In the secondhalf, Christian scored 16 of his 22 points and collected 11 of his18 rebounds.

In the women’s game, freshman forward Mindy Livaudais fired in14 points and had six rebounds in sparking the unbeaten Lady Wolvesto a 72-67 victory over the Lady Bulldogs.

Co-Lin visits West Point tonight to meet Mary Holmes.

Co-Lin 85, Holmes 67

The Wolves (4-1) trailed the Bulldogs 26-22 at halftime beforecoming back in the second half for the win. Co-Lin exploded for 63second-half points.

“We just were unable to to make shots in the first half,” saidCo-Lin men’s coach Dennis Sims. “We were fortunate to be down byfour points at the half. Our young men played their best 20 minutesof the season during the second half.

“Sophomore guard Rod Haynes and Barry Whitley put tremendousdefensive pressure on their guards,” added Sims.

Contributing to the Co-Lin win with 18 points was BrandonDickerson, scoring 15 points in the second half. Collecting 17points in the second half and six rebounds was Marcus Calcote.Haynes finished the game with 14 points, five rebounds, six assistsand six steals. Whitely made eight steals and had six assists.

Greg Tucker led 2-4 Holmes with 20 points followed by IsacGreenwood with 13 points and eight rebounds.

Co-Lin 72, Holmes 67

The Lady Wolves (5-0) held a 38-33 advantage over the LadyBulldogs at the end of the first half. Both teams recorded 34points apiece in the second.

Sophomore forward Tiffany Dales added support to the Co-Lin winwith 13 points. Christy Brown collected 11 points and ninerebounds.
