Student gets extra reasons to be thankful

A Brookhaven woman was given a little something extra tocelebrate when she became the latest winner in the DAILY LEADER’S AHometown Christmas promotion.
Keiza Williams, 21, a junior at Belhaven College, was delightedto find out she had more than just a few days off from school to bethankful for this week. She won $200 in Hometown Bucks.
“I was so surprised because I never win anything,” saidWilliams. “I’m excited about it.”
When she came home from college and her family told her she hadwon, Williams did not immediately believe them. Instead, shethought they were playing a joke on her.
After receiving her Hometown Bucks recently, the reality set in,and Williams began planning how she would spend her “bucks.”
“I haven’t decided where I’m going to spend it yet, but I’llprobably do some Christmas shopping,” she said.

The 10th Annual Hometown Christmas is an effort of the DAILYLEADER and area merchants to encourage shoppers to buy locally inorder to benefit the community.
Williams said she is already a devoted Brookhaven customer. Infact, she was beginning her Christmas shopping in Brookhaven whenshe decided to register for the drawing last week.
“I was shopping during the Christmas open houses and heardsomeone talking about it (Hometown Christmas), so I registered,”said Williams.
Shoppers may register at any of the participating merchants byusing the special entry forms and boxes on display. Shoppers mayenter as many times as they would like.
There will be three more drawings for $200 in Hometown Bucks,with a grand prize drawing for $600 in Hometown Bucks on Friday,December 15.
