Mrs. Assink, 45, died Jan. 2, 2001, at Central MississippiMedical Center in Jackson of injuries sustained in an automobileaccident on Dec. 26. She was born in Morton on Nov. 12, 1955, toDr. Louie Franklin Wilkins Jr. and Diana McLain Wilkins.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Salus PresbyterianChurch in Clinton.

Preceding her in death were her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. LouisR. McLain and Mr. and Mrs. Louie Wilkins Sr.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband,Randy Assink of Clinton; her son, Joey Assink of Brookhaven; herdaughter, Emily Diana Assink of Clinton; her sisters, LindySullenberger of Jackson, Patsy Lain Pepper of Henderson, Nev., andLouana Wilkins of Senatobia; and a number of nieces andnephews.

Walter Curtis Honea

Services for Walter Curtis Honea of Sontag are 2:30 p.m.,Friday, Jan. 5, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial inShiloh Cemetery in Lawrence County.

Visitation is Thursday, Jan. 4, from 5-10 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. Honea, 72, died Jan. 3, 2001 of heart failure at St.Dominic’s Hospital in Jackson. He was born in Lawrence County onJan. 12, 1928, to Thomas Richard Honea and Myrtis Evans Honea.

He was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a member ofHolly Springs Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Odeal LewisHonea; and his longtime companion, Mary E. Smith.

Survivors are his sons, Curtis Richard Honea of Sontag andDonald Honea of Huffman, Texas; his daughter, Kathy Pevey ofMonticello; his sisters, Elma Dykes of Sontag and Lucille Townsendof Raymond; and six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Albertine M. McGuffee

Graveside services for Albertine M. McGuffee of Jackson are 1p.m., Friday, Jan. 5, at Lakewood Memorial Park.

Visitation is Thursday, Jan. 4, from 5-7 p.m. and after noonFriday at Lakewood Funeral Home.

Mrs. McGuffee, 84, died Jan. 2, 2001, at Baptist MedicalCenter.

She was a retired secretary for the Highway Patrol.

Survivors are her sister, Mary L. Caffey of Jackson; herbrother, Billy Mason of Brookhaven; and one niece and twonephews.

Mark Allen O’Brien

Services for Mark Allen O’Brien of Metairie, La., are 11 a.m.,Friday, Jan. 5, at Harrigill Funeral Home Chapel with burial inHollywood Cemetery in McComb.

Visitation is Thursday, Jan. 4, from 5-10 p.m. at the funeralhome.

Mr. O’Brien, 40, died Jan. 1, 2001, of injuries sustained in anautomobile accident in Deming, N.M. He was born in New Orleans onOct. 1, 1960.

He was a self-employed investment broker. He was a member ofFirst Baptist Church of Marrero, La.

Preceding him in death was his brother, Chuck O’Brien.

Survivors are his wife, Penny Lynn Gibson O’Brien of St. Rose,La.; his mother and stepfather, Cecelia McDaniel-Ratcliff and DavidRatcliff; his father and stepmother, Charles E. and Kerry SueO’Brien of Wesson; his son, Christopher Valentine of Pascagoula;his daughters, Tiffany O’Brien of Pascagoula, April O’Brien andPaige O’Brien, both of St. Rose, and Angelle Faure of Metairie; hissisters, Erin O’Brien of Metairie, Stephanie Turnbo of Wesson, andKarla Wooley of Brookhaven; and one grandchild.

Virginia “Virgie” Smith

Services for Virginia “Virgie” Smith of Brookhaven are 2 p.m.,Thursday, Jan. 4, at Brookhaven Funeral Home Chapel with burial inNew Salem Church of Christ Cemetery.

Miss Smith, 89, died Jan. 2, 2001, at King’s Daughters MedicalCenter. She was born in Lincoln County on Dec. 11, 1911, to A. R.”Buck” Smith and Elizabeth Case Smith.

She was a retired school teacher. She was a member of CentralChurch of Christ.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brothers, W. E.”Sambo” Smith and Jack B. Smith; and her sisters, Grace D. Smith,Ruby Lee Smith, Mildred Zimmerman and Pauline Surles.

She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces,great-nephews, and other relatives.
