Dexter boys sack West Lincoln 72-57

TYLERTOWN – The trio of Ken Haynes, Nic Mark and Tory Crumedycombined for 50 points to lead the Dexter Bulldogs to a 72-57Friday night win over West Lincoln and the Division 7-1A title. TheBears, division runners-up, will open the 1A South State playoffsTuesday night against 6-1A champ Pisgah on the road. Dexter willhost Pelahatchie.
Haynes scored a game-high 22 points and pulled down 15 reboundsto lead the Bulldogs. Mark added 15 points and 13 rebounds. He alsoblocked 5 shots.
“Dexter is just big and athletic,” said West Lincoln head coachJason Case. “They hit some outside shots on us and that opened upthe middle for them. We didn’t quit and we fought back, but it justwasn’t enough.”
The Bears (21-7) took a 13-10 lead into the second quarter onthe strength of some outside shooting by Jamie Sisco and CodyMitchell.
Dexter (19-11) then outscored West Lincoln 24-10 to take a 34-23halftime lead.
“Dexter is just so solid inside,” said Case. “Crumedy is a goodpoint guard. It was hard defending both.”
The Bulldogs extended that lead to 53-34 before West Lincolnwent on a 13-5 run and cut it to 58-47. That would be as close asthe Bears would get.
Sisco led the Bears with 20 points including three 3-pointers.Mitchell added 15 points and Carlos Johnson had 8 points andgrabbed 14 rebounds.
